About us

The aim of the ’Common Ground’ network is to link and inform those in our area who are interested in the spiritual side of life .

Common Ground was founded by Don & Jayne MacGregor. The Core Group who run it  are mostly from a Christian background but are seeking to make connections with others treading their own spiritual paths. We want to listen, to learn and to discover and share common threads as a means of encouragement to us all.

The Common Ground Core Group consists of Don & Jayne MacGregor, Elizabeth Daniels, Helen Aspden, Garry & Phyll Bennett, Andrea & Jeremy Martineau, Ian Anderson. The website manager is Don MacGregor

A key element to Common Ground is that we may be on different paths, but we are willing to listen and learn from each other in a spirit of dialogue – to share what we have in common and to respect the differences. One of the most difficult problems in sharing is the different words we use for describing the spiritual experience. Each tradition has its own language. For instance, the energy that is harnessed for healing can be described in numerous terms: prana in Hinduism, ch’i  (or qi) in China, ki in Japan, mana by the Huna of Hawaii. More recently it has been referred to as ‘bioenergy’ or ‘subtle energy’. Christians might refer to it as God’s healing touch. Such linguistic differences often lead us to thinking we are talking about different things, and it is only when we get behind the words to the meaning and experience that we begin to see that our paths are similar and we can find common ground.
