Watering the Soul Weekend Retreat
A Grief and Gratitude woodland camping retreat at Precious Woods, nr Cardigan
led by Karen Scott (Being in Nature) and Sally Davies (Gong and Song)
“Grief is praise because it is the natural way love honours what it misses” – Martin Prechtel
“In the face of impermanence and death, it takes courage to love the things of this world and to believe that praising them is our noblest calling.” – Joanna Macy
This small gathering in circle will be a deep dive together. We will draw on the eco-dharma practices of the Work That Reconnects, with a poetry dive and sound healing, to weave a holding basket for our love of Life on Earth.
The circle will hold us as we explore our Grief for what we have lost and will inevitably lose, as a consequence of being alive. We will settle together into a place of receptivity, opening our hearts to our connections with one another and the beauty that surrounds us in nature.
Many indigenous wisdom cultures honour the vital place of Grief in tempering the human heart and maintaining peace. And they tend to the vital practice of Gratitude, relating with all Life with thanksgiving from our hearts, which strengthens us in facing the challenging times we live in.
As well as our explorations and sharings of Grief and Gratitude, the retreat will offer other restorative practices, including a gong bath on the Saturday evening and time in silent contemplation. We’ll prepare meals and make and sit around a fire together and live as a small intentional community during the weekend.
This is for anyone who feels drawn and can commit to being present for the whole duration of the retreat. We hope you’ll join us.
